"Perfect Parade" Off, Charity On

NFL Week 10, 2016: After a loss to the Ravens, the reality of the Browns going 0-16 on the season, becoming only the second team to accomplish such a feat, became a chilling reality.

Enter Chris McNeil, aka @Reflog_18 on Twitter. McNeil, on behalf of the city and Browns fans... we think... submits a request to the City to throw a parade Downtown if the Browns in fact go "defeated" for the year.

The crowd-funded "Perfect 0-16 Parade" took off on social media and over the course of the next five weeks, raised roughly $8,000 on GoFundMe.com.

NFL Week 16, 2016: The San Diego Chargers, with 5 wins to their name in 2016, come to town to face the winless Browns in a Christmas Eve match-up for the ages. In front of a couple of thousand fans (give or take), the Browns pulled off the greatest miracle of 2016: They won a football game.

But what about the parade? Have the Browns let down their fans once again?

"NO," says McNeil! While the parade won't happen, the money that was raised (and the $2,000 + more in the week since the Browns first win) will be donated to the Cleveland Food Bank.

Since that announcement, the Cleveland Browns, coming off of that first win, have announced that they will match the money that's been raised and donate that to the Food Bank as well!

So while there is no parade to celebrate(?) the Browns sub-par season, a lot of people who need help are going to benefit.

Kudos to McNeil, the Browns, and all of the fans who donated to make it happen.

Browns' RG3 Out Due To Shoulder Injury

After injuring his shoulder in Sunday's season opening loss against the Philadelphia Eagles, quarterback Robert Griffin III will miss significant playing time.

A Browns news release says Griffin will miss "an extended period of time" and that his shoulder will be "re-evaluated" in 3 to 4 weeks.

After being placed on injured reserve, Griffin will be out for at least eight games.

Josh McCown takes over the Browns starting quarterback job.

-----

(Cleveland Browns, news release) Browns quarterback Robert Griffin III sustained a significant injury during the team's season opener at Philadelphia on Sunday and has been placed on injured reserve.*

He is expected to miss an extended period of time during the 2016 season after medical tests on Sunday night and Monday morning revealed a fractured coracoid bone in his left shoulder. Although surgery is not required at this time, Griffin's left shoulder will be re-evaluated in 3-4 weeks.

"It's very unfortunate, Robert came in and has worked extremely hard to learn our offense and earn the respect of his teammates," Browns coach Hue Jackson said. "This is a tough loss because everyone has seen how invested he has been in this team and his dedication to the work needed to improve his craft. We all know these are the realities of the NFL, injuries occur and you have to find ways to overcome them so they don't impede your progress. Robert will do everything in his power to rehab and get healthy but Josh McCown is on this roster for a reason and we have great confidence in him. He is more than capable. His veteran presence has been an asset to our team throughout our process of preparing for the season. We look forward to him assuming the role of the starter and leading our offensive unit."

Griffin signed with the Browns as a free agent in March. He completed 12 of 26 passes for 190 yards and added 37 rushing yards against the Eagles.

McCown started eight games for the Browns last season. He completed 186 of 292 passes for 2,109 yards with 12 touchdowns, four interceptions and a 93.3 rating in 2015.

* Under the new injured reserve rules for the 2016 season, each team can designate one player to return. Designation does not need to be made until that player is able to return to practice. A player placed on injured reserve is eligible to return to practice in six weeks and must miss a minimum of eight games.

AUDIO Browns: How Much Should RGIII Play?

The Browns will open up the preseason with the Green Bay Packers on Friday, and with Robert Griffin III being named the starter earlier in the week, one of the main questions out there is: How much should the former Baylor quarterback play in the exhibition season?

Sam, Ben "Heavy D" Genet, and I all kicked this idea around during the Sam Bourquin Show Tuesday to talk about how much the first stringers, Griffin included, ought to play against the Packers, as well as the other three preseason games.

"I think you go a series," Ben said. "I feel if you go more than a series you're asking for trouble," he continued.  Ben pointed to Griffin's injury history as a reason for concern.  Sam and I looked at a 2-3 series sample of playing time for the first stringers given the fact that in order for an offense to jell, you have to have reps.

"You don't have to score, I don't care about that," Bourquin said. "You have to see what you have, and you can''t do that in three snaps."

Touchdown Tony Mazur, our Browns beat reporter, said that he has to at least get a few series in order for him to have a good sample size of film for the coaches to dissect and evaluate.

As far as his observations from Browns camp, Mazur says he's seen coach Hue Jackson increase the intensity and hitting in practice.
