Shoemaker said that his career never really materialized with the Buckeyes, during his four years with the program, but this year was supposed to be the year, but that will not transpire.
"It was a violation of team rules, that's all the school is saying right now," Shoemaker said.
Dunn will be eligble to play immediately due to already having graduated.
With Ohio State, the cliche comes back that the Buckeyes don't rebuild, they just reload, and there is top-level talent at virtually every position including quarterback.

Ohio State Head Baseball Coach Greg Beals joined Sam on the Sam Bourquin Show and discussed the Buckeyes 2016 Big Ten Tournament Championship. Beals discussed how the Buckeyes had to win four games in 48 hours to win the championship. Coach Beals talked about the trials and tribulations that the Buckeyes had to battle to win the championship starting with overcoming a walk off loss to Iowa. "We got walked off in the ninth inning with a three run lead against Iowa in the second round, took a punch in the gut with that loss." Beals said. Beals credited the competitive toughness, mental toughness, and ability to stay locked in on why his team over came the loss to Iowa.
One of the newest members of the sports team at FOX Sports made an appearance on a "Feel Good Friday" to talk about his new venture in broadcasting and discuss the NFL game today and how it differed from when he played.
Former Massillon Tiger, OSU Buckeye, and NFL linebacker and current FOX NFL and college football analyst Chris Spielman joined the Sam Bourquin Show to discuss moving on from ESPN and his time working in the booth with Sean McDonough.
"Anytime you get a chance to challenge yourself or do something new, it is exciting," Spielman said. "For me this year in 2016, I'm going to do all NFL games, and I've done some NFL preseason stuff in the past."
Chris and Sean teamed up for ESPN's college football broadcast and he says one of the cool things about working with Sean was their on-air chemistry and ability to let the broadcast "breathe." He says that their chemistry helped propel them to new heights, with Chris at FOX and Sean as the voice of Monday Night Football.
"I was a small part of him achieving a life-long goal and that felt good."
Chris also talked about the NFL game, and as a former linebacker with the Lions, Bills, and Browns, and he said that as a defensive player, they have to be able to adjust to the rules being geared towards the offensive side of the ball.
Two Ohio teams will square off in the first round of the NIT Tournament Tuesday, and there might be an upset brewing down in Columbus.
The Ohio State Buckeyes and the Akron Zips will square off on the hardwood tomorrow, and the excitement level might not be at a fever pitch for Buckeye fans, but it is expected to be a solid matchup.
Blake Williams from the Buckeye Sports Bulletin joined the Sam Bourquin Show to talk about the matchup and his overall thoughts on the season.
"I don't think Ohio State fans are all that excited to be playing in the NIT Tournament for the first time in eight years," Williams said. "The NIT committee did do the team (OSU) a favor by giving them an in-state opponent which hopefully would draw a better crowd."
Akron comes into this game at 26-8 after losing to Buffalo in the MAC Championship game, and Ohio State is coming off a 20-13 season for Thad Matta's group, who some say underachieved this season.
"The expectation in Columbus is to make the NCAA Tournament, which they didn't do, so it's fair to say the season was a disappointment," Williams said.
Blake also touched on the Ohio State women's basketball team, who is looking to find out their seeding for the women's tournament. He says that despite some key injuries, the Lady Buckeyes should be in good shape for the tournament slate with their athleticism and big-game mentality.
With National Signing Day just a short time away, Urban Meyer is pulling in another impressive haul down in Columbus.

"Signing Day is the day people can make things officially official, but some kids have already signed their national letters of intent," Shoemaker said.
"The only player Ohio State might be waiting on tomorrow will be Malik Harrison, who is from the Columbus area, but he's pretty much a done deal as far as going to OSU," he said.
