Eden Amador Gorby is this week’s WAKR Female Student Athlete of the Week.
A senior at Springfield High School, Eden participate in track and field, as well as running cross country in the fall. She runs in many track events including the 2 mile, 1 mile, 4x4 ,4x8, and the 800. In cross country, she does the 5K. She is a four-year varsity starter for track, and has had honorable mention in the PTC.
Eden is coached by her dad, Kevin Gorby . "He's coach and he's dad,” says Eden. "He doesn't show favoritism.“
Coach Gorby has helped Eden not only her athletics, but with her confidence as well. "I wasn't always very confident, but with him motivating me, I've learned to become a leader."
Art is one of Eden's favorite subjects in school. Though she is very creative, Eden is not sure if she wants to continue art into college, so she is keeping her options open.
Eden is also a member of the National Honors Society and student council.
