Akron Mayor Dan Horrigan joined mayors from major cities across the country Thursday for a Facebook Live discussion centered on solving the growing problem of gun violance.

Mayor Horrigan made note of the 50 homicides in the city in 2020, the majority of which were caused by gun violence. That was the highest number of homicides Akron has seen in more than a decade. "And 2021 is not off to a great start," the mayor added, noting 17 homicides so far this year, 14 of which were caused by gun violence.
