Gas Price Drop In Akron Featured

Written by Jeanne Destro

Gas prices fell in Akron by 1.6 cents last week, to an average of $3.38 per gallon. Nationwide, the decline was a bit more pronounced; falling 7.6 cents to an average of $3.37 per gallon.

GasBuddy.com reports  it was the second week in a row of gasoline price declines, and that diesel, which now stands at $4.53 per gallon, is at its lowest level since March 5, 2022.

In a release today, Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, said, "While diesel prices likely have a long way to fall as inventories continue to improve, gasoline prices in some areas have gone up in the last weeks as the transition to summer gasoline is just around the corner.”

In addition, he observed,  “GasBuddy data shows that gasoline demand has risen for the third straight week, a trend that will likely continue as we gradually see temperatures warm and the heart of winter moves to the rear view. Also, refinery maintenance season will soon be in full force, likely putting upward pressure on prices.”
