In celebration of his many accomplishments, Judge David Hamilton, the Administrative/Presiding judge for Akron Municipal Court was honored Friday night with the Harold K. Stubbs Humanitarian Award.

The award which is sponsored by the St. Paul African Methodist Episcopal Church of Akron, recognizes those who have made contributions in areas such as social action, government, business, medicine and law.

Judge Hamilton, who is in his first term as an Akron Judge, has been lauded for this creation of the COMPASS program, which offers men between the ages of 18 and 26 who face criminal charges an alternative to straight probation or jail, with the hopes of steering young men toward a better path.

Judge Hamilton is also the co-creator of the Raising the Bar programs, which encourages minority high school students to consider careers in law.
