Akron police say two young men, a 17 and an 18 year old, were injured when shots rang out a large party in the parking lot of the old Erie Island Elementary School, at the corner of Cordova and Peckham Streets early this morning.
They say the 17 year old showed up at Cleveland Clinic-Akron General at about 12:15 AM, with a "non life-threatening " gunshot wound, but the 18 year old, who arrived in a separate vehicle, was more seriously injured when he got run over by a car while trying to escape the gunshots. He remains hospitalized.
The identity of the shooter, as well as that of the hit-skip driver that struck the 18 year old, is unknown, and police are sifting through evidence including a rifle and shell casings they collected at the scene.
