Akron's newest affordable housing development will be christened with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Thursday, June 8.
The I PROMISE development at 445 S. Maple Street, is located near the LeBron James Family Foundation's I PROMISE School, and offers services and ammenities like a demonstration kitchen where residents can learn about healthy eating, workout facilities, and Wi-Fi in every apartment. Although some people have already begun to move in; they are not yet full, and are taking applications now from area residents who must meet certain low income requirements. If you would like to live there; click here to apply.
While the 50-unit housing community shares the I PROMISE name, it is not funded by the LeBron James Family Foundation. Project financing came through a variety of lenders, and it is owned and operated by the East Akron Neighborhood Development Corporation. The LeBron James Family Foundation is involved though, by providing assistance with wrap-around social services for residents.
