Barberton EMS Help Deliver Baby Featured

Written by

Arriving just in time the Barberton Fire Department helped a local woman deliver her baby last Thursday.

Fire Capt. Duane Milford told the Beacon Journal that the call for a possible imminent birth came in around 8am. Crews were dispatched and arrived at the home to find the mother, Mariah Foster, alone and in full labor on the couch. She delivered her baby just 3 minutes later, with Chief Milford saying it took just a few pushes.

Baby boy Kai arrived about a month early and will spend some time in the NICU at Cleveland Clinic Akron General, but doctors say it won’t be long, and that both mom and baby are healthy. Mariah adds that while the experience was scary, it was definitely a memorable labor.
