After nearly three decades with Akron Public Schools, including a dozen as superintendent, David James will ride off into the sunset. James gave his first interview since he announced his retirement on the Ray Horner Morning Show. When asked about his decision to retire, James mentions his parents are in their nineties and his daughter will graduate college next year, and he just feels it’s time for another chapter. As far as his legacy goes, he points to the success in the academies since he took over as superintendent in 2008. His final day as superintendent will be June 30th, 2021, and he believes Akron Public Schools is in good hands.
