Rather than make a sweeping statewide decision on contact and non-contact fall sports, Governor Mike DeWine left this up to the individual school district. Originally, Akron Public Schools planned on holding off on fall contact sports for nine weeks, but that decision was reversed Monday.
Patrick Bravo is the president of the school board, and he discussed the reversal in this decision on the Ray Horner Morning Show. Bravo mentioned they will continue to work with Summit County Public Health, but they ultimately listened to the parents and the community who wanted to see the student-athletes get to practice and play again.
Now that contact sports are back, teams like the East Dragons are ready to get back in the swing of things, according to head coach Marques Hayes.
