WAKR is celebrating 80 years of broadcasting in Akron, and for 71 of them, Share-A-Christmas with the Salvation Army has been a constant every December.

However, during those seven decades, the United States has not seen a pandemic of this magnitude until 2020, and many residents of Summit County need help in various ways, from food to finances. Major Stephen Stoops is with the Salvation Army of Summit County, and he spoke of the importance of their organization’s mission, now more than ever. From the services inside the Salvation Army building to how and where to donate in the red kettles, Major Stoops discussed it all with Ray Horner.
