Student Athletes of the Week: Ellie Zuro & Andrew Weyand Featured

This week's athletes are from Wadsworth High School.


Ellie Zuro's work ethic shows not just on the court as a 3 year letter winner & captain of the volleyball team but also in the classroom with a 4.07 overall GPA. She received 1st team All District (Division 1) and 1st team Suburban League awards this 2022-2023 volleyball season. She is ranked #2 in the Suburban-National League for kills as an outside Hitter. Last season Ellie was 2nd team All District and 2nd team Suburban League. She has committed to  the University of Fairmont State to continue her academic and volleyball career. 


Andrew Weyand is a senior with a 4.2 grade point average and is a 4 year letter winner on the Boys Varsity Golf Team. Andrew is among just a few who have ever earned 4 Varsity Letters. He is among the all-time leaders at Wadsworth High School in matches played and in scoring average. Andrew's low score of 32 helped his team tie the school’s 9 hole team record. His score of32 was 1 stroke shy of the record for lowest 9 hole round by an individual. He is a 1 st Team All Suburban League Selection. This year- his 18 Hole Scoring Average (77.5) and his 9 Hole ScoringAverage (37.5) put him in the Top 3 among Medina County participants. Andrew is a contender for this year’s Gazette Player of the Year to be determined next week.
