AUDIO Notre Dame Ready For Longhorns

As the Notre Dame Fighting Irish prepare to take on the Texas Longhorns for the season opener, coach Brian Kelly knows the biggest question mark remains if they can win on the road in a high-profile matchup.

Mike Frank from Irish Sports Daily joined Sam to talk about the matchup with Charlie Strong's Horns and how he will juggle the quarterbacks, Malik Zaire, and DeShone Kizer.

Frank says Coach Kelly didn't tip his hand in the press conference, but he anticipates both young men playing and a lot of who plays more depends on Texas' defensive schemes.

"That seems to be the game plan, whether it will work or not remains an interesting battle," he said.

Texas and Notre Dame play Sunday night at 7:30pm in Austin.

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish came off a strong season in 2015, and Brian Kelly's squad is looking to get in the College Football Playoff in 2016.

Mike Vorel for Notre Dame Insider joined the Sam Bourquin Show Tuesday to preview the Fighting Irish and talk about the goals and expectations for the team this season.

Vorel says that he expects this team will have a solid campaign this season, which will help a young team build their confidence.

"They're very young, but very talented,"Vorel said. "If you look at this year's schedule, it's more forgiving than in year's past, so 9-10 wins is very realistic for this team."

Notre Dame will open up the season on the road against the University of Texas, before coming to South Bend to take on Nevada.
