Paige Brenner from Copley High School is the female 1590 WAKR Student Athlete of the Week for October 27-November 3.
A junior, Paige is a standout volleyball player for the Indians, who are having a stellar season under head coach Antoine Pastor. The Indians are co-champs in the Suburban League, their highest finish in over a decade, and Paige, who plays center, is a big reason for their record.
Not a volleyball player since birth, Paige picked up on the sport quickly in the seventh grade. In her first two years of high school, she took home an honorable mention and a second team all-conference title.
A Copley resident, Paige talks about growing up there. “The community is really awesome,” she says. A lot of people [in the community] come out and support us.”
As far as the high school goes, Paige enjoys the communal feel. “It’s a really good environment,” she says. “There’s a lot of really good people. There’s not a lot of fights or arguments.”
When she’s not on the volleyball or basketball courts, Paige has been very active in her community. She points to her strong faith, and has been quite active in her church.
Being just a junior, Paige is still undecided on where she wants to attend college. However, when she does, she plans on studying ministry.
