Democratic Ohio Congresswoman, Marcia Fudge, whose 11th district covers the Cleveland area, and extends into West Akron, is now the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development.
The US Senate voted to confirm her nomination, 66-34, and she was sworn in to her position immediately afterward. Now, the longtime Ohio lawmaker is in charge of the agency just as Congress passed new benefits for renters and homeowners who have suffered economic losses amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Fudge has represented Ohio in Congress since 2008, and previously chaired the Congressional Black Caucus.
