Late last year is was announced that The Tangier in Akron was closing after more than 70 years hosting permiere musical acts and other entertainers.
The LeBron James Family Foundation purchased the iconic venue with plans to convert it into a mixed-use community center just up the road from LeBron's I-Promise School.
As the dismantling of the Tangiers continues with remodeling plans already in place, pieces... or, at least one piece, appears to be up for sale on the Facebook Martketplace.
This week, the quite recognizeable blue domed roof ornament was posted for sale on the social media site.
According to the seller, who is not associated with the Tangiers nor the venue's ownership, they were posting the ornament for sale to Facebook in an effort to save a little piece of Akron history.
She tells our WAKR Newsroom that the structure isn't scheduled to be removed from atop the West Market building for a couple of weeks yet, but she has already received a number of inquiries from interested parties.
