For our Student Athlete of the Week program, we begin 2021 just across the border in Medina County, as we meet two Wadsworth Grizzlies. Maggie Long is a three-year letter winner and captain of the Lady Grizzlies basketball team. She was named to the All-Suburban League first team as a junior, and is the leading scorer and rebounder during her senior season. She is getting offers for colleges left and right, and not just for her solid play on the court. Maggie is strong in the classroom, as well, carrying a 3.99 GPA. Logan Messer is a two-year team captain on the famed Wadsworth wrestling team. An impressive 14-0 during his senior season and 114 career wins, he is a district champ, Suburban League champ, a state placer, and is currently ranked 13th in the entire country. A 3.95 student in school, Logan plans on continuing his education at George Mason University. The Student Athlete of the Week segment is powered by NECA-IBEW and Akron Children’s Hospital.
