For our Student Athlete of the Week program, we head eastbound and into the city of Tallmadge. Giulianna Currey keeps herself busy throughout the year, whether it’s on the golf course, the basketball court, and most notably, the classroom. Gia is a four-year member of the golf and basketball teams, and is a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. She is a four-year honoree as a Distinguished Scholar, and has spent four years as a CCP taking classes at Kent State University. Gia has also been a member of the Pep Club, the Junior Executive Board, and the Suburban Leadership team. After graduation, she plans to pursue a career in physical therapy. Ethan Taylor plays guard and forward on the Blue Devils’ basketball team. With an AAU background, Ethan's tough and defensive-minded style of play elevated him onto the JV squad as a freshman, and he started on the varsity team by his junior year. When he’s not on the basketball court, he’s showing off his athletic talents on the lacrosse field, as he played the sport while living in Western New York (Tallmadge High School does not have a lacrosse team). Ethan has done volunteer work with the YMCA and Habitat For Humanity, and has also lent his services as a volunteer coach and camp counselor. He is a 3.5 student, and plans on majoring in business and sports administration in college, where he will assuredly apply the knowledge he gained while operating his own small lawn care business. The Student Athlete of the Week segment is powered by NECA-IBEW and Akron Children’s Hospital.
