Written by

The Student-Athletes of the Week segment is powered by NECA-IBEW and Akron Children's Hospital.

This week's student-athletes represent Coventry High School.

Madison Burkhart

Madison is currently holding a GPA of 3.69. As high of a standard as she sets in the classroom, she meets, or even exceeds it, in her athletic endeavors. She has participated in 3 sports each year at Coventry: volleyball, basketball, and softball. She is a three year varsity letterman in volleyball, a four year letterman in both basketball and softball. She is also a 2 year captain on the basketball team. She was a member of the 2022 and 2023 MAC 1st team for softball, as well as taking home MAC Player of the Year honors in 2023. It should come as no surprise that she is planning to play softball at the next level, committing to play for Malone University after her graduation.

Ryan Dinan

In the classroom, Ryan holds a 3.21 GPA. He has participated in 3 different sports during his time at Coventry: golf, basketball, and track. He is a one year letterman in track and a three year letterman in basketball, but it is accomplishments on the golf course that truly stand above the rest. He is a four year letterman with several other accolades to his name. He is a two time MAC Golfer of the Year, 2 time State qualifier, a 2022 District and Sectional medalist, and a 2023 2nd Team All-Ohio member, placing 11th at States in Division II. He also holds many records, being the first golfer in conference history to never be beaten in a season and holding the 9 hole school record (-6) and a Griffiths Cup tournament record with a score of 65. Ryan plans to continue his golf career at the next level, committing to play for Cleveland State.
