Akron Police Arrest Five, in Second "Gambling House" Bust This Week Featured

For the second time this week, Akron police made arrests at what they're calling an illegal "Gambling House".
 
Police say as part of an ongoing investigation, they arrested five people at a suspected betting operation called Tap Tap at 1035 Kenmore Avenue. While executing a search warrant, police allege they also found a half gram of fentanyl, motherboards from approximately 40 gambling machines, an AR-15 style rifle, three handguns, and more than $18 thousand dollars in cash.
 
Three of those arrested, 27 year old Kyle Brown, 23 year old Leonard Cross IV, and 30 year old Davonte James, were charged with Gambling (Betting), and Operating a Gambling House.
 
In addition, 37 year old MIchael Walsh was charged with two drug-related offenses, and 33 year old Beth Ison, faces chargres related to an outstanding warrant, and Misrepresenting Identity.
 
Earlier this week, on Monday, June 5, police were called to the scene of a shooting at the Royal Queens Party Center in the 800 block of Brown Street, where they arrested a 16 year old male who they say tried to hold up the place, and got shot in a struggle over a gun.
 
He suffered non life-threatening injuries, and police say charges against him are pending.
 
In addition, police say they found a number of gambling machines on the premises, and arrested two adults; 34 year old Billy Walker, who reportedly leases the building, and 19 year old Donovan Alexander, who manages the business. They were charged with Operating a Gambling House.
