New Ohio Law will Require Cash at School Events Featured

Written by

Leave those credit cards at home. A last minute addition to Ohio’s state budget will require schools to take cash for admission to school events and accept cash at at least one concession stand per venue.

The Beacon Journal reports that the change, which takes effect on October 1st, also says that events that don’t accept cash must let patrons in for free if they can prove they had enough cash to cover the price of admission.

The new requirement was championed by Ohio State Senator Shane Wilkin after seeing people struggle with electronic payments at his daughter's basketball game saying "You ought to be able to spend the official currency of the country pretty freely."
