Kent’s so-called “crash corridor” will be getting an overhaul thanks to help from a $5 million dollar federal grant.
The problem area is the one-mile stretch on East Main Street where Kent State University and other businesses reside. Community members tell News 5 it’s a busy area, with a sharp incline, and narrow parking.
The city has been looking to address the issue for 5 years after Kent was called the worst crash corridor in Summit and Portage Counties from 2014 to 2018.
Now the more than $25 million dollar project is moving forward, with work expected to begin in 2025.
