Who knew 15th Century divorce and beheadings in not so Merry Old England could be so entertaining?

Well, Mark Zimmerman, who is the Theater Director for Akron's School of The Arts, is absolutely convinced it is true, and he's hoping you'll feel the same way after you see the new musical premiering this week at Firestone CLC, in Akron.

He talked to Jeanne Destro about Six the Musical (Teen Edition), as well as Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, coming up November 9, 10, and 11.

You can enjoy Six the Musical (Teen Edition), starting Thursday evening at Firestone CLC, September 26th. The show will run through this weekend, with performances on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at 7:30 PM, and a 2:30 PM matinee, on Sunday. Tickets are available now at akron.booktix.com.

Six The Musical, is is a  pop musical that reimagines the lives of the six wives of Henry VIII as a 21st-century super girl-group. From Tudor Queens to pop icons, the Six wives of Henry VIII take the mic to remix five hundred years of historical heartbreak into a euphoric celebration of 21st-century girl power. 

The original musical is Directed by Emeilia Sherin who also serves as the production’s choreographer, also includes Firestone graduate Shiloh Hart, who is serving as Music Director, and was written by  Lucy Moss ,and Toby Marlow.

Six the Musical made its world premiere at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2017. The West End production premiered in 2018 and is still running. The Broadway production of Six the Musical, originally scheduled to open on March 12, 2020, resumed performances at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre on September 17, 2021, officially opening on October 3, and is still running there today.
