For our Student Athlete of the Week program, we head to the Portage Lakes region and go to Coventry High School. Cassidy Karakis is a senior and carries a 4.2 GPA. She is a four-year letterman in volleyball, basketball, and softball, and was an outside hitter on the Comets volleyball team that finished as regional runner-up this year. She has earned all conference honors in all three sports and is a member of National Honor Society and Key Club. She works at Timberbeast Axe Throwing in Medina and enjoys hiking, camping, and skiing. She plans on attending college and majoring in neuroscience or biology. Lucas Wagner is a senior and carries a 3.64 GPA. He plays basketball, baseball, and football, and is in the Key Club and volunteers at Safety City. He also helps out at the Haven of Rest shelter. After graduation, he plans on going to college to play football and major in engineering. The Student Athlete of the Week program is powered by NECA-IBEW and Akron Children’s Hospital.
