This week's Student Athletes of the Week are from Manchester High School.
Jaydyn McKinney is a sophomore wrestler. On February 20th, she became Manchester's first ever girls state champion in wrestling. She won the 120 pound division while dominating the competition. She pinned every one of her opponents in the state tournament and her longest match was one minute and eleven seconds. Jaydyn is not only a great wrestler, but a great student as well, with a 3.685 GPA.
Josiah Cox is a senior on the football team and in track & field. He had a great season on the football field in the fall and hopes to have an even better spring for track and field. Last season Josiah qualified for the state meet and finished 6th in discus and 7th in shot put. In the spring he placed 4th in the shot put at the DII/DIII Indoor State Championship Meet at Spire Institute. Josiah works just as hard in classroom as he does on the field. He has a 3.885 GPA and he's a member of the National Honor Society.
The Student Athlete of the Week segment is powered by NECA-IBEW and Akron Children’s Hospital.
