Our Student Athletes of the Week are from Tallmadge High School.

Mia Hurst is a 4 year varsity letter winner and captain of the Tallmadge Track and field team. Mia's main events are the 100 meter sprint, the sprinting relays, and the long jump. Her freshman year, Mia became the first girl in Tallmadge history to make it to the regional meet in an individual sprint event, competing in the 100 meter dash. Mia is a two time district champion in the long jump and the 300 meter hurdles. Her goal this season is to make it to the state meet.

Mason Dexter is a three-sport athlete. He is a 4 yr baseball letterman, 3 yr football letterman , and 2 yr basketball letterman. His freshman year, the team won the district championship for baseball. In football, Mason was all suburban, and in baseball he's looking to be First-team all suburban this year as well. Mason is also an excellent student. He is on the Advanced Honor Roll, is a Distinguished Scholar, a Scholar Athlete, and he's in the National Honor Society. Mason is looking forward to leading this year's squad to another league and district championship.

The Student Athlete of the Week segment is powered by NECA-IBEW and Akron Children’s Hospital
