Red Cross: Blood Supply Levels "Historically Low" Ahead of the Holiday Season The American Red Cross
The American Red Cross is reporting its blood supply is at "historically low levels" as we head into the holiday season.

 

According to a release from the Northern Ohio Region of the Red Cross, they are at a point where some patient that are relying on tranfusions may not receive the blood that they need: "Busy holiday schedules, breaks from school and winter weather all contribute to a drop in blood and platelet donations this time of year. Those factors, combined with the ongoing challenges of COVID-19, make it vital for donors to make an appointment to give as soon as possible."

Anyone looking for an opportunity to donate blood can visit RedCrossBlood.org or download the Red Cross Blood Donor app to their smart phone. As an extra incentive, the Red Cross is offering a free, long-sleeved T-shirt for those who donate between December 17th and January 2nd, while supplies last.
