Akron Police reported two instances of violence Monday, including the murder of a 34-year-old woman who died of gunshot wounds. Police say the woman was shot to death around 1:30pm in a parking lot in the 2200 block of West Market Street in Akron.

Police responded to a call to find the woman unresponsive and someone rendering first aid to the victim. She was transported to Cleveland Clinic Akron General and later died of her injuries.

The shooting remains under investigation.

Police also report that 4 teens were injured by gunfire during a party in a parking lot on East Exchange Street late Monday night.

Akron police were called to the parking lot just after midnight Tuesday after reports of a large gathering and people running from the scene. Police report that during the party shots were fired by one or more suspects striking 4 teens, 3 females and 1 male, all of them receiving non-life threatening injuries. The victims say they initially thought the sound of gunfire was fireworks.

There are currently no suspects and the shooting remains under investigation.
