Are Your Property Taxes Going Up? Featured

Written by

Summit County property owners can find out this week if their property taxes are going up next year, now  that the Summit County Fiscal Office has mailed out notices based on new property valuations. In addition, taxpayers can view tax rate changes on the Summit County Fiscal Office website, starting this Thursday, August 3.

According to Summit County Fiscal Officer, Kristin Scalise; property tax reappraisals are mandated every six years by Ohio law, and since taxes are paid one year in arrears; value changes from the 2023 triennial update will be reflected on tax bills mailed in January 2024.

Appraisers analyzed sales ratio reports to determine how property values have changed since the 2020 sexennial reappraisal.

Summit County Fiscal Office staff will be available to address questions and concerns in one of three ways: virtually, via phone call, or in person at one of the community meeting locations.  Appointments can be made by visiting the Summit County Fiscal Office website https://fiscaloffice.summitoh.net/ and selecting 2023 Reappraisal Meeting.
